Class

Isn't the ship a missile corvette and not a fast attack craft?

Every source I have says it's a fast attack craft. What makes you think it's a corvette? --Laisak 11:10, 17 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
"A corvette is a small, maneuverable, lightly armed warship, smaller than a frigate." from Corvette. :) It could well be both - a fast attack corvette, or something.--85.49.226.153 02:33, 3 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The difference between a Corvette and a fast attack craft is pretty arbitary. Corvette might be larger, more general purpose and operates further from shore but the difference is small. 145.253.108.22 08:17, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Finland regards its forces as a "defense force" and rather use much "shallow" terms. Regarding on the Hamina, its official name in the Finnish Navy is "Hamina luokan-ohjusvene" or "Hamina fast attack craft" following the Finnish doctrine of "non-aggression". So that's the reason why it is referred as "fast attack craft" rather than "corvette". And the Hamina also has only little offensive capabilities and a much smaller size compared to many of the corvettes around; it looks like a smaller version of the Visby class corvette of the Swedish Navy (Marinen). There is no basis for claims that these "shallow" or "defensive" terms for class naming are actually used by FDF. The official sources now directly referenced in the article show that the FDF designation is "Missile FAC" in English and "ohjusvene" (missile boat) in Finnish. Also the correct form with the class name in Finnish is "Hamina-luokka (ohjusvene)", not "Hamina luokan-ohjusvene".
However, if you were describing for example FNS Tornio in English, you would say "FNS Tornio, a Hamina class Missile FAC", but in Finnish "Hamina-luokan ohjusvene Tornio"
Also, "very little offensive capabilities" is a major understatement, when the main ASuW missile armament consists of half the Visby load and rather typical load for a missile boat. --88.112.226.28 (talk) 23:02, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article is mum on the fiscal impact. Other recent entries in naval vehicles often quote a project cost, research expenditure or other more granular levels of expense. Please advise. Saucepan73 (talk) 19:44, 27 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
